The Scrumptious Summer Slim Down

Ok, the summer season is still upon us but there is no need to panic. We have put together a few great tips that will assist in getting you into shape without having to sacrifice your taste buds.

Listen to your body.Warmer days mean you’ll find that heavier foods become less appealing and that your body craves lighter meals. Take advantage of this and give your body the nutrients it desires. Give into fruit and vegetable cravings. They are the perfect place to start because they are low in kilojoules and are highly nutritious.

Melons, for instance, are rich in vitamins and low in kilojoules. They’re cool and refreshing, and can act as a sweet treat alternative.

Cucumbers also have high water content and are versatile enough to compliment a number of different meals.  They are also great in refreshing drinks.

Vegetables such as squash are high in fibre, this helps to keep you fuller for longer and means that you will eat less and consume fewer kilojoules.

Experiment with your favourite fruit and vegetables by mixing up different flavoured smoothies and throwing together tasty, chilled soups.

For a great source of protein and healthy fats, try fish. High in Omega 3, fish is the perfect source of all those healthy fats you keep hearing about. Remember that “good fats” help with digestion and it is wise not to cut fat out of your diet all together.
